Rev. Fr. Khachatur Kesablyan

Fr. Khachatur was born on the 27th of June, 1976, in the city of Etchmiadzin, Armenia.

In 1983-1991 he studied at the local High School in the City of Etchmiadzin.

In 1991 he enrolled in the Gevorgyan Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

On September 20, 1998, after he graduated from the seminary, he was ordained a Deacon by His Eminence Bishop Abraham Mkrtchyan, Primate of the Sounik Diocese of Southern Armenia, in the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin.

In 1998, by the blessings of late Catholicos Garegin I, of blessed memory, he was assigned as a lecturer and supervisor at the same seminary where he taught New Testament for one year.

In 1999-2001, he was assigned as an Army chaplain and spent nearly three years in the Armenian Army ministering to the religious and spiritual needs of Armenian Armed forces.

In 2001, by the blessings of His Holiness Garegin II, he was assigned as the Executive Secretary of the Department of Inter-Church Relations.

The same year, Fr. Khachatur defended his theses entitled "Episodes from Armenian-Ethiopian ecclesiastical relationships."

On the 11th of September 2005 by the blessings of His Holiness Garegin II, and by the hand of Archbishop Mesrob Grigorian, the primate of Armenian diocese of the Central Europe, he was ordained into the priesthood and given the name of Father Khachatur.

In 2005-2006, he served as a pastor of the City of Kapan and it’s 30 surrounding villages in Southern Armenia.

In August 2007, Fr. Khachatur was invited by His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese of America (Eastern) to continue his pastoral service within the Eastern Diocese.

From 6 August 2006 to December 31, 2007 he was assigned as a Pastoral Intern at the Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Cambridge, MA.

In 2007 Fr. Khachatur enrolled in one semester of Pastoral Theology and Parish Administration at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Seminary, Brookline, MA. Likewise, he began his Clinical Pastoral Education program by working as a chaplain at the Beth Israel and Deaconess Hospital in Boston.

Fr. Khachatur is married to Yn. Anna Kesablyan, and they are blessed with a daughter named Maria.
